Day 21 - September 10, 2014

Today's Reading: 1 Peter 2:1-5 (NIV)

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.  4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Dan's Thoughts:
Stones are supposed to be dead.  Everybody knows that.  Yet this passage reveals to us that things which death is supposed to rule over are left powerless in Christ.  Just as Christ gave himself up to be a living sacrifice, we should do the same.  The problem with a living sacrifice is that it usually wants to crawl off the altar (where a living sacrifice is offered).  Will you refrain from crawling off the altar of your heart, and offer yourself sacrificially in allegiance to God's plan and purpose for your life?

Questions For Reflection:
1.  Which verse stuck out to me the most?  Why?
2.  What is God telling me through this passage?
3.  What transformation in my heart needs to take place because of what this passage means?
